James Curran

A month after my fifth birthday, I was in first grade. Drawing comic book characters was how I made a place among older, and larger, kids. Back then, media was book illustrations, Sunday comics and the occasional movie. I was drawn to sharp edges and action on the page. 
These images are from my series “Folded”. This series uses one of my digital paintings and intersects it with photographs of crumpled heavy duty copy paper. The resulting images are then refined in drawing program. All of the works in the series are originally related to the same digital painting
My work has been shown in Massachusetts exhibits, online and in publications.
