In Marian Young Starnes, "Letters from Summerland: A Bridge Between The Worlds" she speaks on the idea of life after death and the relationship between the living and the dead. More importantly, Starnes talks about her mediumship and her personal relationship between her late husband through her mediumship. It was then that I decided to create work that highlighted this equilibrium of a relationship between the living and the dead, as it is one that I believe everyone has, even myself. As our loved ones pass, the connection that we once shared with them in the physical realm is continued but takes a different form. It is believed that loved ones that pass become our ancestors as they enter the ancestral plane; however, it is up to us whether or not we wish to continue our relationship with them. My work wishes to create a safe space where we are allowed to embrace the unknown and our ancestral connection, whether that be in the form of dreams, visions, or any other form.
